motives and reasons to specialize in Materials

Download the complete document, "studied materials "

Although I have very clear, here are TEN REASONS for worthwhile study SPECIALTY MATERIALS:

1) If you love the world of semiconductors, you need to know a lot of materials (the Silicon Valley is full of engineers and specialist doctors in Materials)

2) If you want to work the world of energy (both the new-fusion, solar, wind, as the old-oil-), mostly have to know materials (corrosion, welding, high temperature materials, ...)

3) Are you drawn to the world aerospace?. One of the best keys is to be an engineer specialist materials in order to solve the myriad of problems that have a ship or aircraft related materials (from the time of design).

4) If you love the world of biotechnology, materials are the key to most developments, where any idea goes through the development of a new material.

5) The exciting world of nanotechnology is based on the development of nanomaterials.

6) Would you like to join the MEMS world?. You'll have to know a lot of materials (same semiconductor manufacturing technologies).

7) The evolution between these photos of cars is, above all, the evolution of materials. If you want to be valued in the automotive industry, show them you know of materials.

8) fuel cells, superconductivity, ... The new forms of energy generation depends on your knowledge of materials. The borders will be overcome with new materials.

9) Why would a pen-drive of 10 GB takes less than a pinkie? For materials engineers develop new materials every minute of ferro-electric and magnetic electronic applications.

10) Your knowledge of materials you can open doors in consulting, technology centers, research departments, nearly every time something goes wrong, it's because the material is poorly designed.

But there is more REASONS to specialize in MATERIALS

1) In the specialty of material is given a comprehensive training in this field of engineering design, manufacturing, property, service performance, all families of materials ...
2) All of our students find jobs immediately, and the majority of companies that have do with the specialty.
3) If you want to do PhD , our expertise will allow you access to the best universities in the world.

KNOW YOU ARE INTERESTED (Now maybe you do not care, but ask your peers in higher grades):

1) All our students have final project insured .
2) Do you want to go on Erasmus?: Chalmers (Sweden), Tampere (Finland), TU Delft (Netherlands), Ecole des Mines de Paris (France), TU Loeven (Belgium), Politecnico di Torino (Italy) ... I opened the doors of the best engineering schools in Europe.
3) Want to make project abroad?: Let us know and we'll get it (many of our students have done).

BUT ALSO:

Department that focuses on the Specialty Materials (Department of Materials Science and Engineering and Chemical Engineering) is the most competitive of the University (see the memory University Research ):

We are among the most funds raised in research and work for companies (fifth place by relativizing University tenured professor), but at the same time we of the most published in the international arena (second from college, also in relative terms).

And do not forget the obvious:

If you always attracted the world of metals, plastics or ceramics ... Materials are yours!
